    Duh...what is the "SKS" located under the steering wheel? thanks

    The SKS is for Smart Key System. On the Gen II models (prior to 2010) there was a button to turn off the SKS system if you were going to leave the car parked for a while in order to reduce 12V battery drain.

    The Gen III models do not have this button. The Owner's Manual says that after about 5 days the SKS will turn off automatically.

    Thanks much. I'm new to the site, but this is my second Prius. Do appreciate your reply as I've noted a lot of (ehemmm perhaps younger...) people don't write anything on their posts. Sign of the times I guess. Thanks again.

    That's to enable or disable the touch sensitive door handles. If you disable it, you can still use the key fob to lock/unlock.
