As cool as this driver-side compartment mount attachment looks, i'm not too sure how useful it'd be compared to a suction or vent-mount. For one thing, it's on the opposite side of the car as the USB plug-in is, so you'd have to have a long cord and it would have to run across your whole dash (pretty ugly). Also, if use an iPhone, since the charging port is on the bottom, it looks like you might not be able to plug the cord in if the mount is rotated in the vertical position. At the very least, it'd be hard to plug the cord in without first rotating it by the looks of it.

Also, $45 is a bit steep for something that can be accomplished using a windscreen suction mount for only $10.

Says you :) , this would keep all of the mounting hardware confined and out of site if you aren't using it. Suction cup mounts require a spot in your view. This mount rotates so that you can plug in the iphone, so no problem there, shoot, my galaxy phone plugs in on the bottom, also. As far as the cords go, you have to run them to wherever the suction mount is, so this isn't really all that different.

I can understand the clunkiness of a long wire if you want to keep it plug'd in. but if your iphone is fully charged, the connections can rely solely by tethering through blue tooth. This dash compartment mount is a great spot for viewing apps like Torque or alike, displaying vehicle info that works with those BT transmitters that plug into the OBD2 jack.

not only suction cup sacrifices a spot in your view but also leaves residue on your window. air vent mounts are good if you are blowing cold air all the time, but they are also out of the way if you are trying to view it all the time. (i.e. engine temp, RPM, real time MPG).

just weighing options, ofcourse. suction cups and vent mounts are easily accessible and cheap.

I just ordered this one. It looks like it got some good reviews by the Japanese Aqua owners. I will upload pics when it arrives!

This is what I use too and it's amazing!!

It will pretty much work on any phone or other similar gadget. Plus I can point my phone anywhere and that's important to me since I commute a lot and use my phone as a DVR on every commute.

The description says that it can be rotated 360 degrees. So this shouldn't be a problem.

Anyone know of any other mounts for the Prius C, anything or any word or photos of the Mountek nGroove mount that goes into the CD player? Anything available that will fit in that empty space under the start button?

    Thanks everyone.

I have the CD mount. I like it as long as I'm not using the GPS or adjusting my volume. It cuts the top 1/4" of the screen.

Do you have any shots of it installed in your vehicle with the phone in the cradle?

    Thanks Ztanos

I use a handlebar holder attached to the parking brake. Cheap ebay stuff. It puts the phone at my fingertips.

I picked up one of these when I was in Japan. I wont be home for a couple of weeks. Its definitely designed for a right side drive car as the holster folds down and is flush with the dash. i'll post pics once its done. Btw it is secured with two sided tape. I saw it originally in a car on display at the local mall.

My iPhone 5 mount is cobbled together. I started with the iBolt iProDock holder: (search Amazon for B00AOCRO7Q and add a Lightning cable)
Added this mount to replace the suction cup: (search Amazon for B002T0EK64)
Scraped off the sticky (which didn't hold well) and secured it to my dashboard just under the hazard button with Sugru: (search Amazon for B009X0YYJQ)
Works like a charm, and when the day comes I need to remove it, a bit of floss and rubbing alcohol will remove the Sugru from the dashboard.

I'll add pictures when I get home...

It's just right for my Nexus 4 to be there, and I can easily use/see my navigation app (I use sygic, since I refuse to ever be wired to a data plan). So far it's stuck really nice and have survived a 100mile or so road trip and a few phone insertion and removal...I doubt it'll come off with road vibrations, etc...unless I pull on it
