Bubbatech, thanks for sharing your pursuit on the warranty repair and the outcome. Apparently we are on our own if one breaks down. So far, my Bluetooth is working - maybe I got the one good one. As an alternative to returning the unit, is there a chance there's an electronics repair shop in your city? If you can explain the issue, maybe it can just get repaired for $100 if you bring the unit in. Anything over that, and you have to wonder if it would be worth it.

What would be nice is if M&D would at least share with you where on the circuit board the fault is - I would think by now they know which component it is. That way you could speed up the diagnosis for the repair shop. I agree though that using the term "refurb" on their ad is very misleading. Closeouts are completely different. No way would I pay $2220 for one of these new!

I am told that the bluetooth is integrated on the main board. Since I have expertise in electronics, I may take the time to fix it myself sometime, although without any schematics it is difficult to make any real component level repairs. Typically electronics fail at interconnects, solder joints, active and passive components in that order. It could be as simple as a loose antenna connector or somesuch. When I feel like it, I will look at it.

If you do take on the project, please post here what you did to fix it. Meanwhile, I took out the SD card and made a copy of the contents on a folder on my PC. I get warnings from my antivirus software that it could be a threat, but I'm thinking it's bogus and told it to ignore the threat. There are allot of files to go thru and I was looking for any type of ini or exe file that might have settings to change the backlit button brightness. So far, no luck. I did a search for the secret code of 7253 - maybe it's stored as hexadecimal. I was hoping to discover other secret codes that might be useful. I did find several files that set the brightness of things shown on the screen, but the "hard" buttons on the panel are probably configured a different way. If I find something useful, I will post back.

Making a backup of the SD card is a good idea. I think I will do the same.

The SD card is problably a 4 GB - I get 3.69 GB when I did a properties on all the files. Good to have a backup just in case though. I was also looking for free decompilers online - no luck either.

Hey guys, just bought a prius 2010 II last week and I have been looking to get the Myron & Davis unit from the same ebay seller you guys got it from. How is the system working for everyone?
Is it easy to replace the stock radio with this? I have seen some videos online and it doesn't look too bad. I have no experience doing it before so not sure If I should try it myself or not. I called one of the nearest auto audio shop to see if they will install but they quoted me $250 which seems ridiculous.
Is BestBuy auto installation good for this?I know I would like to install back up camera too but that looks much complex then just installing navigation unit.

Installing the head is very easy. The seller is ok and responsive, but bear in mind that the warranty is only 30 days. The camera install is non-trivial, but doable if you aren't afraid to take things apart.

Yeah, the warranty is only 30 days hopefully it won't stop working like the people in amazon's review. Do you have the same system in your car? How is it working for you?

I do have it. The Bluetooth failed after about two months. That's why I know about the warranty. Everything else on it works fine. I had another Bluetooth system that works through the aux jack, so the failed Bluetooth hasn't been a problem, especially since the defunct bluetooth interface wad pretty clunky. I only paid $290 for it so as long as everything else works, I'm ok. The navigation isn't bad, but is not as good as Apple map or navigon because it sometimes chooses a suboptimal route. Even with these caveats, given the price, I would buy it again. I like having a backup camera and a easy, convenient built in map. It also sounds better than the stock radio.

Thanks for replying. I bought one for $290 too. I am not sure which camera to get, do you have any recommendation for for it? I am thinking about taking it to best buy for installation since they only charge $80.

I ordered a camera from a seller on ebay intended for a 2009? Camry, thinking it would be a perfect fit. It was not, but I used the insert that was already in the slot and epoxied the camera into it. My main recommendation would be to get a CCD camera that is either intended to fit in a 3-gen Prius or smaller. I paid around 18 USD I think.

I did similar to u as the ebay stated that it was a proper fit for my year prius. I used it for about 5-6 month until I replaced it with a perfect fit one, this one is better quality too so I'm happy:) .

Just for everyone's information my navigation stopped working on my M & D about 2 weeks ago. I had a few glitches before but I would always get it back to working again by itself or by rebooting it but this time it's a no go. Not a huge deal as I hardly use it or used it when it was working & most other features still working(backup & stereo mainly) but it is a little annoying that it won't work just to see it on the screen if I want it:( .

The first thing I would try is to reseat the SD card.

Yep, I get a similar error code. I couldn't get mine to work either. It's been down for over 3 weeks now:eek:.
