I leased a 2010 prius ii Feb. 2011 and was told by salesperson that warranty on battery was actually 150 K although the printed material said otherwise (100K).He crossed off the 100K in book and wrote in 150 K instead. Am confused about this since I am trying to buy out car now and new salesperson says warranty is only 100k? What to do?

Got this from another thread. New York is a CARB state, it has 150k mile warranty. Here's the list of states that have 150k warranty on the battery

CARB states are California, Connecticut, Maine, Massachusetts, New Jersey, New Mexico, NewYork, Oregon, Pennsylvania, Rhode Island, Vermont and Washington.

Just check your local laws, I think the car has to have never left NY to retain the 150k warranty.

and when adam says 'never left' he means registered in another state. you can drive it anywhere you want and it won't affect the warranty.:p

Not completely true. Washington and Pennsylvania are only partial-CARB states. While this brings some perks, it doesn't include the longer battery warranty.

And is your list of states specific to Model Year 2010? It looks 2 states longer than my memory says it should, so I fear that you included a couple states that hopped on the CARB bandwagon after OP's car was built.

Lot's of confusion on this, even many dealers seem to give out wrong info.
CARB states is 150000 mile and non-CARB is 100000 mile warranty.
Look at the warranty if you have it.

Toyota's hybrid warranty wording is a little unclear (compared to FORD etc) but my interpretation is:
    (1) Needs to be CA-certified vehicle (eg; orginated from CARB state such as NY)
    (2) Needs to be registered in CARB state (eg; NY)
So you *should* be OK for 150000 mile assuming NY all the way.

Number of things I am not sure about-
I don't know if somehow the NY dealer could have leased a car from out of state origin.
I don't know how to tell if vehicle is "CA certified", but I think might be a sticker.
Not sure if "car registered outside the CARB state temporarily" matters...doesn't seem to for non-Toyota hybrids
Not sure if some non-CARB state vehicles may be CA-ceritified...I feel like my 2006 may be CA-certified even though purhcased in VA (does me no good unless I move to a CARB state).

I am on my 2nd Prius. I have a 2013 Prius Persona bought in April 2013. I have about 35,769 miles on it. My first Prius was a 2008, purchased 7/1/08. I drive many miles per year. I put ~270,000 miles on the 2008 before trading it in. I NEVER had an issue with ANY battery in the vehicle. Neither the 12V, nor the hybrid. I wouldn't worry about it.

You do know how to tell when a 'car salesperson' is lying, correct?
