I find that some seats tend to press against my left thigh in such a way that my leg starts to ache, I didnt seem to have that problem in the Camry, nor the Avalon.

I really wish I could have afforded the Avalon, what a nice ride it has.

I believe the Avalon Limited has a powered cushion length adjustment.

Man, you should change the title of this thread. It's overly dramatic. I'm just started looking into 2012 Camry Hybrids and your thread title had me worried.

I would but only the moderators can change it. I'm seeing a few offset steering wheels here and there - Passat, new Sienna, C-Max,

I drove a 2012 Camry today. The wheel is not a problem.

Drove new Camry SE for couple hours this morning. Offset steering wheel a deal breaker. Car was ok overall but I'd think Accord driving experience has Camry whupped.

Pros: secure handling: Much better than Prius, fairly quiet, quiet engine (could hardly tell it's running at stop light),

Cons: offset steering wheel (hate it), feel road bumps fair amount in SE, 5 spd tranny shifts for highest gear asap, can bog entering freeway, stock sound system like all base systems: makes bunch of midrange noise, no bass, yuck,

I see from the picture the Camry steering wheel seems a bit offset to the right - the Prius it's the opposite where it's offset a bit to the left. Before settling on the Prius v, among others I test drove a Camry SE and XLE Hybrid and the steering wheel position was not a factor for or against. The SE rode stiffly and seemed a bit spartan on the inside and was only considering it because of the killer lease deal, and the Hybrid drove nicely and I would've bought but it didn't have the utility I wanted. Since it practically gets the same mileage as the v, having the 2.5 liter hybrid system in the v would be awesome!

Isn't it a 6 speed? I didn't think manuals were offered any more on the Camry.

I don't know if it's still true, but a few years ago manual transmission was available in the Camry on a regional basis (available in New England, not in Great Lakes, for instance).

That was the Gen 6 Camry. That was available with a manual transmission. For the 7th generation (launched for the MY2012), there isn't any transmission option. It's a 6-speed auto w/ manual mode for all non-hybrid Camrys.

Right, it is a 6-spd automatic. I can tell it's programmed to shift up through the gears as quick as possible. Must be for fuel economy.

Downloaded free Photoscape software. Little bit of skew in camera angle, but not much.

No, they could adjust it if was turned a bit while going straight down road, but nothing else.

You have tilted the wheel down more, right? And telescoped to you if needed?

From this pic camera 550.jpg you can see that my elbows have a place to rest, right? Do you have any shot at using the armrests, both of them while driving, even if that means fashioning 5 or $10 of foam to be able to do so? Stressing your arms to handle the wheel could be making your seating / back much worse. If you can get a good bend in elbows while steering, needing armrests would seem much less of an issue.

That 4" stack of foam on armrest has made the biggest improvement in seating comfort, no more futzing around trying to get a grip on the wheel which btw, is quite far from me due to long legs (and arms) as you can see MCCOY BRETT.jpg and very limited steering wheel telescope. This car is not so 'vertically challenged' seating wise, but quite 'horizontally challenged' and not in a good way.

Because some cars are designed with drivers in mind, others are made as appliances with 4 wheels.

Um, yeah, the wheel tilts up and down as well as telescopes. Release the lever all the way down, adjust, but secure it before driving!
