So I got a 2008 prius to borrow from the boss for a trip to the sema show in a couple days. Immediately I noticed how lame it was to put it from R to D or down into the B setting. Had to lift your arm to reach the shifter.. Went to the hardware store and for roughly a buck fifty I had a comfortable shifter for the trip (northern Cali to Vegas a 13 hour drive) here it is.

It could use a slightly lighter knob but its not bad at all. A worth while mod in my opinion!

While this seems clever for comfort, my concern is that shifting between D and B is not something you should probably be doing often, unless you commonly encounter 4%+ grades.

Seems like a good idea, if your that lazy (lol) I'd be worried about breaking it off. I'd paint it also so it blended in.
-on a side note I thought that was a beer in the Cupholder.

Why would anyone want to do this? This is an automatic that doesn't require constant shifting. Shift once and you're in gear. The extra length might provide too much torque when you shift, imagine a kid putting some weight on that handle. I guess it would makes sense if you were trying to be different.

    SM-N900P ?

yes. it has a standard metric thread pitch of 6mm x 1mm. if you have access to a drill press and a metric tap set, you could turn virtually anything you can drill into a shift knob. you don't want it to be too heavy though. this knob is on the verge of being too heavy; if I did it again I'd get one a little bit smaller. ebay has all sorts of potential shift knobs. the pre-drilled ones for normal shifters are drilled much too big for a prius and are drilled to be mounted on a vertical shift lever, so most of them wouldn't work well.
