Yes, needs to be lower in the front to somewhat follow the angle of the accent line near the top of the doors.

Then extend an imaginary line through the back. It should line up with the seam between the rear quarter panel and rear bumper cover.

There are measurements in the instructions linked to in post #2.

When applying the side molding, don't peel the red backing strips off all at once and try to position it. If you don't get it right, you might not be able to move the side molding to reposition it. Instead, peel off only an inch or so at one end and fold it over at a 45 degree angle so that it sticks out at a 90 degree angle from the side molding. Carefully position the molding, then slowly pull the red backing tape outward from under the side molding. Apply pressure to the side molding to ensure good adhesion.

I am surprised you would install side moldings on a --- 2010 car?? I would think after 4 years if it were gonna get door dented, it would have already. I have been looking at a lot of Pri checking them out for door dings, and where the dings are located,, as I was wondering if side molding was really needed or would be effective. In my observation, very few Pri had door dings, and the ones that did have door dings, had a whole lot more wrong with them than just a door ding. (Meaning they were much older cars, paint n body dings / damage all over --way more than just a door ding). I kind of think pro-active parking in the very middle of a space, or a space that only has one side exposure will be enough for me-- I Hope! Good luck with your installation!

Looks Great! Nice job! Nice to throw in a bit of BBC's "Orphan Black" into the dull clone mix! A little "Helena" to spice life up! I too would like to do "something" to make our car less clone like, as we so often see other exact Prius clones, everywhere out there!

Orphan Black is a Canadian science fiction television series created by screenwriter Graeme Manson and director John Fawcett, starring Tatiana Maslany as several identical people who are revealed to be clones. The series focuses on Sarah Manning, a woman who assumes the identity of one of her clones, Elizabeth Childs, after witnessing Childs' suicide. The series raises issues about the moral and ethical implications of human cloning and its effect on issues of personal identity.[1]

The series premiered on March 30, 2013, on Space in Canada and on BBC America in the United States.[2][3] The second season premiered on April 19, 2014.[4] The series is produced by Temple Street Productions in association with BBC America and Bell Media's Space.[5] On July 9, 2014, the series was renewed for a ten-episode third season to premiere in 2015.[6]

Helena is one of the characters on the "dark side".

Over here we tend to refer to BBC America as BBC although it doesn't carry the same programming.

    BTW, good job--car looks great.

Yea, I could see it now. They have all these different made up Prius cars, witch are all possessed, each with a different human personalities! Hey> i know, they could follow the "mode" buttons. One could be "EV", the sweet ever conservative super nice one. Then, "Eco", the modest yet vigilant one that had its head on straight, constantly being in the middle between the sweet "EV" car, and the next one, the ever sinister Power hungry, evil,, VERY EVIL, "POWER Mode" car! EEEEKKKKK-----> RUN!! ;)

Here was my molding mod shortly after getting the 2010. I mounted mine high:

IMO, the molding looks much better when mounted with a bit of rake, higher at the back than the front, because of the accent line above it.

Mounting it level throws the proportions off.

Since my moldings are an exact match to the paint, the contrast is very low. This height is for protection and not style. I have to say having them for 4 years now...no side dings that I can see. As for the "glass jaw" - that's a different story :)

I will disagree. My neighbor has this white Persona with level moldings and I think it looks awesome.
