I did a search but only found old responses indicating this worked for a Prius in the UK, but not the US. I have a 2013 model 4. Does anyone know if I can do this? Wanted to burn some music and the DVD would be so much better. I tried a memory stick but could not get it to work. I'm not really tech savvy and could not figure out how to configure it. Thanks.

I just put a bunch of mp3 files on a USB memory, plugged it in and it showed up as one of the audio sources. I selected that source and there they were, play in order or random. We mostly use Sirius XM but go the USB if satellite access is poor.

Fairly confident it would not work on a model 3, but it may on a 4.

I know for the previous 2012 model year, the model 3 could not read DVDs but the model 4 could. It's possible that this still holds true for the 2013 year.

The only way to know for sure, though, is to try it!

This has piqued my interest, as I have the same model I will try this in the next couple of days. I am very tech savvy. Will let you know my results.

I have put plenty of MP3's on CD with no problems.

I believe the 7" Premium HDD (If you have the Four w/ Deluxe SR package) only reads DVD video discs and not DVD-A or DVD data discs so my inclination is that it'll only read MP3 CDs. You can check the manual in the audio section as it lists out the compatible formats.

If the image below is the premium HDD, then I can assure you they do read DVD data discs with mp3's. I tried with a DVD+R disc. Only catch is that there is a limit of 8 nested subdirectories and a maximum of 255 files. 255 files from my music collection (bitrate 128-160) is about 1,5 GB, so you're losing out on a lot of usable space.
The plus side is that it reads mp3 tag info properly and does not use the botched "6-disc changer" approach like when you attach a USB stick or an ipod.
