First thing I'd check is for loose or broken engine mounts. That would cause a vibration.

    From Wikipedia:
"Toyota introduced some refinements unique to the Prius v powertrain. These refinements include a new "Pitch and Bounce" motor control that the Prius v automatically employs on undulating roads and the refined control was designed to improve ride comfort and control. Because the Prius v is a larger vehicle with greater load capacity, suspension components were redesigned to improve handling and ride quality. "Pitch and Bounce" control works with the vehicle’s suspension to cancel longitudinal oscillation when the Prius v is driven over uneven surfaces"

I wonder if this could be in play.

I'm also confused by the term "inverter disc." Could it be the magnetic rotor inside one of the motor-generators? By going bad, I assume that something has come loose. Don't be surprised if a mechanic refuses to guarantee that a suspected problem is what it is; I wouldn't do that either. I don't see a short-cut out of this one. Looks like a case of "bite the bullet."

A flaky "camshaft" or "crankshaft" position sensor or connection to those circuits might be at fault, even when there is no OBDII trouble code.

I'd connect the car to TechStream or a ScanGauge II to read the performance data.

    TechStream would provde more information.

Trading it in is still the best fix. Although it might be worth more for parts than as a whole.

I may be having the same issues on my 2010 III. The car will sometimes jerk from start and my remedy is to let off the gas and ease back on it. It will only do this with the gas engine. I have changed spark plugs and sent out my injectors to have them cleaned out. When driving it, it feels like it can be a motor mount but at the same time, it feels as if one of the injectors or coils are just lagging or shutting down.

Perhaps they are referring to the torque limiter/dampener that goes between the enginer and HSD? That would certainly point to them causing the problem when they replaced the engine.

That is what I was thinking they were referring to. Some people mistake it as a clutch plate because it looks similar to a clutch plate. But as you state it is a torque limiter / dampener.

I am not sure where they came up with the term inverter disc.

There aren't many discs in this system. "Inverter-disc" would imply some sort of disc that converts DC to AC. So no one has come up with a reasonable explanation of what this might be.

The OP stated that it is mounted between the Transaxle and the Engine. The only thing mounted between the transaxle and the engine is the Torque Limiter.

This has nothing to do with converting DC to AC.

I think 2Fas can return to the original installer and demand that the engine be installed correctly. If the installer damaged the torque dampener, he can replace that on his dime too.

That would be called a "rectifier."
