I have a mouse behind the driver seat, in a briefcase, with a cool little red light.

Mice only go where there is food, and they will chew thru anything to get it.

Get some Decon mice/rat killer and place it in ur garage.. they will smell it and go for it.. and a few days dead. Leave it in there. Its not a Toyota problem, you just have a mouse problem in your house.

Not if the kitty has a cat box in the car, and you clean it regularly. But the best would be to clean out the garage so you can park inside, then keep several cats in the garage.

We have 6 cats, 3 mostly outside. The Prius is OK so far, but I found critter tracks, and chewed insulation underhood on my Subaru, which also sits outside. So far it was only insulation, which I taped over. You would think wiring manufacturers could put some foul tasting stuff in the wires to discourage this activity. The cats don't seem to discourage the little critters.

I live out in the country, with rabbits, mice, rats, kangaroo rats, owls, hawks, coyotes and bobcats. I think if I put them all under the hood there wouldn't be any problem :) but I had two instances of my Chevy Astro, a Volvo, and a Chevy Cavalier being chewed up (wiring and hoses), before I found a solution. I gotta tell you, I was amazed that a mouse could chew completely through a battery cable! So anyway, after replacing several wiring harnesses, dangling poison bait under the hood, traps, a $40 ultrasonic pest repeller, and cussing, I found a solution.

Park with your hood up. No kidding, it actually works.

I was getting ready to put Irish Spring soap bars under the hood, which I also heard works. I found a huge stick nest in my motorhome engine area, but no wiring damage there, thank heavens. Count on $400 to $1000 when you have a dealer fix mouse damage.

I've asked my dealer to stock snakes of various colors.

Try dryer sheets. The smell is supposed to repel mice.
