Girlfriend was gone for the weekend so I took advantage.

I had already retrofitted her headlights with some Mini H1 projectors and they were a huge improvement over stock but for a lighting nerd like myself, leave a lot to be desired.

I kept the paint theme the same, MH1 projectors were replaced with modded and tuned Acura RLs, Morimoto xb LED strips were also added. Morimoto xb35 bulbs and DDM 50w ballasts round out the setup.

After the headlights were done I addressed the fogs. I threw in some Rigid Industries Duallys (in flood optics), they are not terribly functional and I will replace them with bigger and brighter LEDs in optics which can be used as a high beam since the RLs are a low-beam only projector.

There is a thread on HIDPlanet which goes into greater detail on the retrofit if you are inclined:

This is the look people try to copy when they throw blue HID bulbs into their headlights and blind oncoming traffic. Blue colorband and flicker created by a well tuned HID projector is VERY different from blue lights.

I must admit, I never thought about painting the Amber corner lights or the reflector...but it def does look more uniform. Nice!

I love what you've done with the car, it inspires me to dig a little deeper. I had a question about the LED Strip as far as lumens is this visible in direct sunlight? I'm debating having to create a led using 5050 SMD Chips or 1W led bulbs. Thanks in advance.

Not trying to jack Evan's thread.. but If you do end up doing the 1W LEDs, be sure to look into retrofitting a heatsink. My first LED setup wasn't very bright -

But weren't that bright in actual daylight - AND i had a couple burn out. Thinking it was my soldering I wanted to redo my setup, I went with BRIGHTER leds the 2nd time.

BUT these starting burning out even faster...so after i wrecked my 2008, on my 2007 I installed the TRS Morimoto XB LED. I don't like the color temp but its been the only one that is actually more like a DRL and is visible in daytime.

The DOT Duallys would be the way to go, much more useable light and less blinding for oncoming traffic.

Check out this thread, let me know if you have any further questions.

Not sure what happened... Think the links on HIDPlanet are broken.

Maybe Evan can fix them when he's done modding his rear taillights on his BMW

    iPhone ?

I sure hope you don't expect anything but looks from the eBay ones: 04 05 06 07 08 09 Toyota Prius CCFL Halo Angel Eye Black Projector Headlights | eBay

They may 'look' like an improvement but they will never compare to a true retrofit like Evan's or many others who have spent the time and effort ...and $$$ to do it the best way. Here is a thread about the quality and their install of the eBay projectors.. Projector Headlights from eBay for the Gen II | PriusChat

    Yuck.. very narrow beam

If you are referring to my Rigid fogs, they are not the dot certified ones, just regular Duallys. Interesting that the photos don't work, what does it say?
