Check out the Sticky Thread called, "Toyota Prius 2010 Model II Head Unit Upgrade" It explains everything you need to do. You don't need to do all of those things. The install is very straightforward. Any car radio shop can do it.

Other Prius trim models include touch screen systems which are quite a lot more difficult to replace.

I kinda want to do the same thing. I just purchased a Gen 3 Pkg 2 2015 and I'm rather disappointed to find that I cant listen to the radio and have my phone navigation go through the car speakers via bluetooth at the same time...

For those with pkg 3 and up, can you listen to the radio and get navigation directions simultaneously? If not, than I have no interest in this upgrade. I simply want to listen to the radio and hear my directions at the same time, I don't care if directions are via bluetooth from the phone or via a built in nav.

yes, while using the navi, you can listen to the radio. when there are prompts, the volume is reduced on the radio.

I have a 2015 Prius 2 without Nav and have no problem listening to the radio and having the phone nav through the radio. I am using an IPhone. There is a setting on the phone that allows this in the Nav app. The Prius sees the new navigation come through as if it is a phone call which automatically gives back to the radio once the direction is played.

Thank you!! Ok :) I can now get navigation through BT even when the radio is playing... Sabby was correct, a setting in the Google Maps app (and likely others) allows you to have the navigation come through as a phone call on BT.. It's slightly more disruptive than having the radio volume be reduced and the navigation speak over it but, it absolutely gets the job done.
    Very happy.. Thank you!

You should try a GPS navigation app called WAZE. It is much better than Google Maps.
