After an oil change, my check engine light came on my 08 Prius touring model. I took it to a repair shop and came away with the diagnosis codes of P1116 and P1119. My Toyota dealer wants to charge me $58 to run another diagnostic check. I don't know if they are trying to get more money from me. What should I do?

$58 is beyond CHEAP! The cheapest fee around my area is $99.

What does the check engine light mean? Do I have to get it fixed right away or can I wait a week?

The check engine light means something is wrong with the car.

One of the codes you posted are inconsistent with published data. I question the accuracy of the code reader.

It is appropriate to diagnose as soon as possible so you can KNOW if it's a minor or major issue and how urgent the repair may be.

Right now, nobody has any idea why your check engine light is on. It shouldn't be on. You need to find out what is wrong.

Thank you Steve, I'll get it fixed ASAP. I must have written down wrong or transposed one of the code numbers
