I have 2010 proud and headlight assembly is broken. Need to buy new one and have a question
What is difference between HID and Halogen headlight assembly? Would it be possible to by halogen assembly and just use Existing LED bulbs?

Many members here have retrofitted HID bulbs into the stock halogen headlight assembly. The Prius' stock projector lens headlights lend themselves perfectly to this kind of retrofit without annoying glare for other drivers. Here's a great video explaining how it's done:

Don't bother with LED retrofit bulbs. They're complete garbage - even the expensive ones. The only way to go LED is to buy the entire Toyota stock LED headlight assembly and ballasts. They're very expensive. HID is a much better option.

Thank you for sharing the video.
What I am trying to understand is the physical differences between headlight housing, shell or reflector whatever it is called of HID, HALOGEN and LED. Are the housings identical or have physical differences?
I have a 2010 Prius and not sure what headlight bulbs are in it. The headlight housing was broken, but the light itself still works. I therefore need to install a new housing.

I've got a video for everything! I could try to explain it myself, but Cnet can do me one better.

To repair your headlights, you should get the same type of halogen housing than originally came with your car. You can then simply replace the halogen bulbs with HID bulbs like the first video shows (or just keep the regular halogens). This swap doesn't work well in all vehicles. Not all vehicles with halogen lights have the proper focusing lenses - that big round glass orb you see in front.
