You could estimate the cost. The battery is about 8kW. Mine has been requiring less than 7kW to recharge, even though it had been "fully" depleted. So you can estimate on the higher side: Cost to charge per month = 8kW × number of charges per month × cost per kW.

Could an owner please measure the vertical depth of the underfloor slot in the back of the cargo area please?

    Thanks.

About loading the battery, keep in mind you cannot use the full 8.8kWh capacity. With my PIP which has a battery of 4.4 kWh the maximum I can load is 2.6 kWh. That is about 60%, so for the 8,8 kWh battery it is about 5.2 kWh. To prolong the battery life it is not discharged lower than 20% and charged more than 80%. So when you display shows 'empty' there is still 20% charge left and when the display shows 'Full' it is actually charged to 80%.

Anyone have an aftermarket gauge to see the Prius Prime values, beyond those basic rules for lithium?

The thresholds for Prius PHV are 18% and 85%.

I thought the cable was 24 feet, but that could be for the previous generation.

A properly specified extension cord is perfectly fine regardless of what the manual says.

I just thought about something that I need to share with California owners of the Prime: On applying for the California rebate, I haven't been able to progress past the page that requires the VIN. I receive this error:

The VIN entered on your application does not indicate the vehicle is a Toyota Prius Prime. Please verify your VIN, selected vehicle model and trim. If issues persist, please contact CVRP staff at 866.984.2532 to continue.

I've sent an email to "CRVP" and received a reply indicating that:

Our website is currently experiencing issues with applications for the Toyota Prius Prime. As soon as this issue has been resolved we will notify you. We apologize for the inconvenience.

When I asked whether I should retry periodically to resubmit my application, I received the following:

If you would like to do so, you can. But to save you time, I would suggest waiting until you hear from us. We are still waiting to hear back on this issue and will be emailing all Prius Prime customers.

No need to get all fancy like that, I just held it in front of the display and punched it. LOL.

On another hybrid that has had this start up feature for years, you can turn the volume dial while it's playing to adjust the level to your preference for future starts/stops.

The manual says that because many don't know what a proper extension cord should be, and would just grab whatever they have at hand.
