I was wondering if any of you might be able to tell me if the harness for the backup camera on the 2012 prius is installed if the car didn't come with that option. I was thinking of buying a used factory OEM camera and installing it. I see the plastic blanking plug in the decklid. Just didn't want to take the decklid liner out to check for the harness installation.
Thanks in advance for any info you might be able to share.....

Depends on what you define as a "harness."

I have a 2013. Bought a camera on Amazon (there's a DIY thread I made on it). It came with EVERYTHING, but the 2013 Prius Two came with the touch screen, and all I had to do was run the provided wires from the camera unit to the head unit. The PLUG was already present, and the kit came with a Y adapter so no wire splicing was needed. Plug and play.

I don't know if that same kit would work as such on a 2012. I know the 2012 didn't automatically come with a touch screen display.

It took a couple of hours to do the install. Not a big deal if you're mechanically inclined and willing to take your time.
