Keep in mind, I am using a Prime, not a PIP. And I keep all the parameters that I have mentioned earlier in this thread.

It's possible, with the greater EV range of the Prime over the PiP that Toyota switched over to time, as opposed to mileage, for an EMM. The Volt uses 6 weeks as a target for EMM.

according to your ECO ranking you have 362.55 miles. and you're in 4th place. the highest EV is 671.15 miles. mine took a nose dive after yesterday's fiasco, 260.7 miles EV and I'm 140th:cry:

Sorry to hear that. I have more miles added to that from last month after I stopped using gas and topped off the gas tank.

Both me and my car must have missed that in the manual. I have exceeded 200 miles without an engine start at least twice.

I drove on a 320 mile trip through the mountains and knocked me out of the ball park.

The "ICE starts due to regeneration to full battery" point has been mentioned, but have any conclusions been reached about this? With the PiP, there were folks who lived at the top of a hill, and after their PiP was fully changed, and they started down the hill, the ICE would start to warm the engine so the system could use engine braking to dissipate the energy. Presumably, something similar could happen if there was a hard stop very soon after starting a trip, or would the system just use the friction brakes in this case?

I live in the California Central Valley, so the 14 °F threshold for starting the engine for heat does not apply in my case. :)

Replying to my own post, this issue is discussed here: Full Battery & going downhill - Engine coming on? | PriusChat The conclusion being that the Prime behaves just like the PiP in this regard, although there is a conjecture that there is a short warmup cycle that is used in this case.

sounds right, but can we conclude that hard braking is the equivalent? or that o/p even does any?

That depends on who you ask.
The O/P concluded that the whole thing of preventing regeneration to a full battery is not more than mambo-jambo.
If you ask me, after 200+ posts this may be the only explanation to what he is experiencing (over 3 cars now and always in the same place and conditions). The fact that ICE is not starting on him in cold morning when battery is not full strengthen this possibility.

According to his report - he does, 2-3 blocks after starting.

Just to note: my garage is unheated but usually still a few degrees warmer than outside. Like this morning was 22 via temp sensor on front porch. 26 via my prime when I turned it on.
