NIce rebate. I know that the states east and south of NY/NJ/CT have $1000 rebates.

I'm not sure how easy it is to obtain a $500 discount without them tacking on hefty Doc fees and garbage port add-ons. Certainly possible though, as my experience shows.

i probably would have to go right up to the purchase to dind out if there are any doc fees and etc., but this is my go to dealer, and i haven't had much problem in the past.
someone else mentioned $2,000. rebate in another region, forget where.

I am not too skeptical of the $500 dealer discount in wide circulation, but it may be trim dependent. The dealers have a lot more profit to play with on a Prime-Advance trim for example.

My only small regret in this shopping was not being able to choose the Premium trim. My wife and I really did not want Soft-tex

Dotters - Try Autonation in Buena Park (Orange County) ask for Moises Granados. He sold me mine (see my post above) I got what I think was a very good deal, below MSRP.

I tried both Buena Park and Longo with the internet sales people and they're selling them at msrp for a Prius Premium. Msrp of $28,800 with selling price of $30,008 for $33,508 OTD. This includes all weather mats, rear bumper applique and the destination charge. I chose the 0.9% financing option instead of the $1,000 off.

I'd like to secure one this weekend (or next at the latest) so please send me contacts or etc. if there are better deals to be had.

    Thanks all!

I paid $37,421 out the door for my Prime Advanced, in Southern California, Toyota gave me $1,000 off that price. The dealership did not have the car in stock at the time I was there, but they ordered the car without a downpayment and I got the car two days later. Lizette Vega at Longo Toyota in El Monte California treated me like a king; wonderful purchase experience. They even delivered the car to my house since I had no one to help me drive it home.

Lizette Vega at Longo Toyota in El Monte. I think they are the biggest Toyota dealer in the U.S. if not the world

That sounds like a good deal and I like and did buy that color: looks great in person unlike that green thing! The dark gray metallic is ok but way too common out here in Socal and it's hotter in summer. Been there, done that.

Lizette Vega at Longo is great. I got 1.84 APR at credit union so for 5 year loan, better deal to take $1000 discount and finance at credit union.

The car is expected tomorrow, so here is the shipping update:
Rather than try and ship the car from NY to my home in rural Colorado, I'm driving with my wife some 200 miles to meet the shipper in Albuquerque. This works out fine for us and made shipping cheaper and much less of a hassle. Quotes ranged from $850 - $1200. I ended up picking movewheels.com and paid $925 total.

The shipping game is interesting: brokers take their commission (usually $75 - $125, but hustlers are easy to find) and post a bid on a central dispatch site that the drivers (or their proxies) scan for jobs. A high paying shipment on a frequently traveled route is snatched up right away; the reverse sits until the site kills it from inactivity; and most bids are somewhere in the middle, where the more you pay, the faster a driver is found. I found movewheels.com to be the most transparent and data aware: they tell you what fraction of bids at any particular price are successful within a designated time frame so that the customer can trade-off between cost and time. I allowed pick-up from Friday, and on Monday a driver offered that day pick-up for $1000. I declined; he offered $975. I declined, and he was not heard from again. Two days later a driver agreed to my $925 bid and picked-up the car that day. Numbers are my total cost, so in this case the broker took $75 and I'll pay $850 on delivery.

My experience of two suggests that drivers travel ~ 700 - 800 miles a day. That is a job I would not want.

To drive legal back home, I paid $7 for a temp plate at my local recording office. I was told on the phone when I inquired about the process that temp plates may only be given when the car is local, but the local nice lady did not ask and I did not tell. I was fully prepared to say "yep" since I consider Albuquerque local ;-)
Each state has its own rules, but I recommend getting your own temp plate at home if you can. This saves the hassles of asking the dealership to arrange a temp or transit plate, and cuts out from under them any pretense of having a reason to charge doc fees.

Prime is home, I think the first in my area so no one cares but me!
We had a nice drive home driving our usual speeds of mid to high 60s and finished with 63 mpg without using any charge since the car came off the truck with an empty battery. Overall I think the car is a brilliant Prius. It definitely has a vastly improved suspension, and the steering is now weighted much more to my liking. The safety features of dynamic CC, LKA and lane alert are wonderful. Our expectations are met, and more.

Perhaps I'll write more later, and I'm happy to answer questions.
