Prime cable

the pip cable was 25' i believe, prime is probably the same.

 

My understanding from discussions in the PiP forum was that in the UK, charging stations do not have cables with the J1772 plug; you have to provide your own cable between the car and the charging station. In the US, charging stations, whether personal EVSEs or public charging stations, provide the cable with the J1772 plug.

 

are you saying the prime in the u/k doesn't come with an evse?

 

It comes with an EVSE and cord, but from what I heard from British owners on the PiP forum years ago, public charging stations do not have a cord. You have to plug your own cord into the charging station, which has a special charging receptacle different from the standard British home power receptacle.

I really don't know definitively, but I suspect that what you need to use a public charging station has the J1772 on one end, and the special charging plug on the other. I seem to vaguely recall that the owners were complaining that the EVSE came with an attached cable (like the ones in North America), and they had to buy their own charging cable if they wanted to use public charging stations. But this was about five years ago, when the PiP first came out.

Edit: the picture in the preceding post suggests that the "special charging receptacle" on the charging station is the J1772. Who knows what is on the car end?
