I have noticed Toyota didn't improve the low gas indicator very much over the Gen 3 Prius. Now you get a little gas pump indicator BUT I don't get a beep. I have purposely brought my gas level down twice to see what happens. My Gen 4 2017 DOES NOT beep with low fuel. I have 1500 miles on it, is this the way it is supposed to be or should I get a beep. BTW, when I tank immediately thereafter getting the symbol, I end up putting in 10.2 gallons, so you have at least one gallon left.

Have you checked the manual under Customizations?
I know @bwilson4web ran his Prime out once. Perhaps he can relate his experience.

No beep in the Prime either. Nor is there a beep in the BMW i3-REx.

The owner's manual clearly shows which warning lights have buzzers associated with them. It also says the light comes on when there is 1.7 gallons or less. No guessing needed.
People need to learn research skills in order to survive these days. There is a reason Toyota provides an owners manual with the vehicle.

I agree, with all the beeping of lane changing, seat belt and door alarms, I would like a 5 beep warning for low gas. The engineers blew this one and I hope they can do a upgrade on the software in the future.

I don't think mine beeped either - warning light, but I thought it changed the TRIP meter to "Distance to Empty" - or am I thinking of my last car. Whatever it did, I thought it was quite obvious it was telling me I needed fuel.

I'm fine with gas gauge, the 8 or so pips. Seriously, don't understand this need for anything more.

I don't recall any other car beeping. I think the beep for the low fuel was unique to the Prius (and I'm sure a few other cars with digital IPs) because the Gen 2 and 3 Prii didn't have the orange/amber/yellow LOW FUEL icon; they only had a blinking pip so the beep was meant to catch your attention since it didn't have the standard yellow icon.

My (Euro) Fords (Fiesta and Focus) did that too - at 80 or 100km from empty, beep, and take over the small screen which normally displayed TRIP and Temp - or instant MPG - and replace it with "Distance To Empty" - you could switch it back OK, but every time you started the car, it would beep again and revert to "DTE" again.

I have found the piercing BEEEEP fuel depletion warning in my Prius Gen II invaluable. I normally always keep an eye on my fuel gauge anyway, but there are moments when you're concentrating on piloting your Prius and might completely forget you're running out. One might even suffer the occasional (somewhat embarrassing and cringeworthy named "senior moment"). Ergo, any new versions of the Prius should have more visual and audio aids to warn of impending fuel depletion.

I for one would applaud my Prius II piping up every 5 to 10 minutes, and verbally advising me that my fuel is running out, and I need to find a fuel station immediately.

It won't do that of course, but I would expect the latest models to have this option onboard - preferably with customisations available.

Then the warning lights need to be in front of the driver. Not the non-existent passenger.

Yep, I won't own up to a "Senior Moment" either - but I don't mind a "Seniors Discount"!!!!

I do object to them giving a "Seniors Discount" without asking for proof, though - it'd be different if I looked old:whistle:.

Isn't it? It's left of the speedo, as far left as it's physically possible. (under the left indicator and high beam icons)

Gen3 had a single beep when the fuel gauge was showing empty (or one bar) and it would beep each time you turned on the car.
In the gen4 there is nothing like it, except the mute yellow icon showing up silently. And when the (pretty much useless) DTE goes to zero (which it is not when the fuel icon shows up, if I remember correctly), no beep either.
The fuel gauge also keeps its yellow color all the way down to zero.
Some better form of reminder about low fuel in the gen4 would be appreciated.
Though I have to admit that I am never surprised when the yellow icon is showing up, because I know well in advance by seeing the fuel gauge and how many km already driven that I need to fuel up soon before any light comes on up on the dashboard.
