Would it help on a new car to always shut off the AC say a mile before you will be shutting the car off so the condenser can dry out? That is what I have done with my Soul since new and now at 25k miles, it has zero smell. My Prius is too new but I have always done the same to dry it out before shutting down.

Prinut, what your final result of the kool-it treatment? I am planning to do the same thing by injecting the foam directly into the drain tube indoor without taking the car apart. Did spraying the coil directly improve your situation?
    Thanks .

In your opinion, is injecting the foam directly from the drain tube indoor enough to deal with the problem? Or is it necessary to take the car apart to reach the coil? I tried before to reach the coil before i saw this thread, and i had a hard time to do it, and i don't plan to do it again. Is there any household product that can substitute this foam product? I don't see why not except that i need the long tube from the can .

In my opinion, the Kool-It product is the only safe solution. Anything else could damage the coils and fins hidden inside the evap chamber. Pulling up the carpet to reveal the drain tube connector was the best way to inject the foam. I actually pinched off the evap hose side to keep the foam in there for several minutes. Then I reconnected the hose to the outbound drain. The pictures on the earlier pages of this thread were very helpful.
