    Howdy,

I'm not sure if other plug in Prius owners have the AC button on the key fob. I have the button, but I'm not sure how to get it to work or if the key fob came with it, but it was not part of the package. I'm not even sure how I would check if it came as part of the car. How can I check to see if I have the proper parts to make it work. Any help is appreciated.

Do you have the manual? It's well documented, page 377 on the 2015 Manual I found online. I have a 2014 base model and it came with it, and works, so your 15 should as well. Basically you press and hold the button and assuming the car has battery power available, you'll hear it spool up and start the AC. I think it lasts for 10 min before automatically shutting off, or it will shut off when you open the door. It's also based on how you left the AC set when you last turned off the car.

I'm quite sure it will only run the A/C if the car is connected for charging. The precooling should then not deplete the traction battery's range.

No, it will work unplugged, as long as the battery has enough charge.

Yes, and you must have The EV battery left, other wise, it will not turn on.

Something must be wrong with my car because I cannot get this to work. I have had a full battery and left my AC settings on when I turned the car off. I pushed the button. Held the button. Nothing. I unplugged and still had a full charge. Same, nothing.

This is not true, it will start as long as the SOC isn't very low (possibly 3 bars or less, not sure of exact threshold).

Were you standing right next to the car? I don't think it works if you're within keyless entry range, if I recall correctly. If you press and hold the button on the remote it should initially flash, then flash again once you've held it long enough (0.7 seconds or whatever), and the indicators on the car should also flash.

I have tried it from keyless range and walking away from it. I tried it until the remote was no longer in range of the car. Held it down and waited for the light to blink. The car had been charging and battery was well above 50%. It was still charging when I tried it. I even unplugged it. Nothing works.

Maybe it's been disabled? It can be done at a dealer, or probably with Techstream.

Is there anyway I would be able to enable it without going into the dealer?

could be anything then, hard to say. if you have carefully followed the instructions and it doesn't work, you probably need tech stream for a deep dive.

The manual states in the "Customizable features" section that the remote A/C operation can be configured "by any authorized Toyota dealer or repairer, or another duly qualified and equipped professional" - I assume that means either some OBD-II stuff, or Techstream. I don't recall seeing specific OBD PIDs for this one (unlike the reverse beep thing).

I've tried locking the car and unlocking. I've tried it at the car has been locked and charging for about an hour just to make sure there is enough charge.

    be well

hum... I turn mine on from inside the house almost every day without any problem. It might be time to hit up the dealer. Good luck
