I know that many of us had these intermittent connect/disconnect USB issues and I couldn't get my Pandora APP on Entune to initiate most of the time. I tried all my genuine Apple cables, to include a brand new one. Nothing helped. Until today. I got an Anker Powerline + cable from Amazon and boom!!! Everything works as it should. Hope this helps someone.

I am sorry that I missed this discussion from previous threads, otherwise, I would have mentioned the Anker PowerLine+ cable. I have noticed the charging problems from the USB port from the start with my other cheaper cables and the Anker cable did resolve that for me.

I have been using a Cigarette adapter charger with 2 ports as well, and the Anker cable always works while my cheaper cable would not work well sometimes either.

so yes, the ANKER POWERLINE+ cable is totally worth the extra money when compared to other cheaper alternatives.

I bought the 3 foot length cable and it looks great and feels great. It is also soft and flexible enough

    Thanks!

So, do the Anker cables help with audio via USB (and perhaps just Internet-connection data?), or do they just help with charging?

I gather that, when you say the "Pandora App on Entune," you're talking about that on the P.Prime itself, as opposed to that on your smartphone?

I have the same Anker cable as Optimus. I am not sure if it improves the rate of charging, but it maintains a stable connection to your car. Other cables cause your phone to go through connect/disconnect cycles for no apparent reasons (at least in my experience).

Yes, I was referring to the Entune Pandora app. 9 out of ten times, I would get a "Tether error" message, instead of a connection. I would end up using an app on my phone and a USB connection (which wasn't stable to begin with).

Overall, I find Entune to be finicky and underdeveloped. I hope Toyota will be addressing the issues via future updates.

Even after the 2/22 update for EnTune, this app would still not open correctly on my iPhone 6s until I restart the phone. It is too bad that it is so unstable and undependable.

Thanks for the recommendation on the Anker cable! I ordered one. Hopefully it will help reduce the USB error messages!

I picked up a brand spanking new 2018 Pprime. Same thing happened with me. As soon as I plugged the OEM apple cable to the USB port of the car and then to my phone, the connection would connect/disconnect/connect/disconnect, etc. for 4-5 cycles. It may or may not connect. I though there was something wrong with the audio system until I found this thread.

I picked up Anker Powerline+ and mysteriously it now connects fine. If the unit doesn't read it as an Music Device, then reboot the phone and it should read it as an Ipod device. Thanks to whoever provided this tip!

I “got the memo” about the Anker cable prior to getting our P.Prime, and I’ve rarely had any problems with USB connections.

Well, probably... I say that because I do occasionally find that I can’t “remote control” the iPhone over USB. That is, the sound plays fine, but if I try to select a different playlist or track forward or the like, it doesn’t. When I unplug and re-plug it, that often takes care of it. Or switch over to Bluetooth...

I got to get this chord. My iPhone X new line was working fine for a few months and then it starts doing it again.

To clarify, although “remote control” doesn’t always work, the sound quality is considerably better than Bluetooth, I haven’t seen crashes or the like with the Anker cable.
