Strange sound after engine turn off in 2015 Prius C

    Hi Everyone
    A friend having Prius C 2015 says he hears a strange sound like a water pump working, after the engine is turned off. I have never heard a similar sound in my 2014 Prius C, can someone help?

    it just depends on the circumstances. both can be normal.

    Brake booster, I believe. The booster in this car (along with the evap system) will sing to you for a few hours after you shut the car off.

    Yes i hear this strange sound in my 2015 Toyota Aqua, i think it has something to do with AC as when i didn't use AC i turn off my car no sound, when i use AC then turned OFF the car this sound i hear for few minutes like 5-10 min

    I already used to this... Just unlocked the car... Sit on the driver seat... And car starts breathing... clicking.. something is moving (but I don't see it). As my wife says "car wakes up"... Then I put a key and start the car... I stopped wondering...

    PS. I know Subaru XV (hybrid) has "automatic louver" that keeps it open until car warms up, and then opens as needed to allow air to cool off the engine. I don't know, if Prius has something similar...

    AC on? After it shuts down, there is still liquid refrigerant being metered by the TXV into the evaporator. It'll make this noise for a few minutes until the pressures in the high side and low side equalize.

    When the driver's door is opened, the anti-lock brakes pressurize. The noise you hear is probably that pump running. The c has many relays, beeps and click noises all the time since it never is really off, even when it not running.
