How to remove white steering wheel cover

You can buy replacement pieces for the steering wheel on e-bay or Rakuten Japan

 

bought this on Ebay for my 2018 prius ECO - it is a cover and was installed with double sided tape - best $20 I ever spent, fit perfect

 

The equivalents for the 2018 and up Corollas and Camrys are showing up with different color OEM steering wheel trims.

Unfortunately the panel cannot be purchased from Toyota dealers without the switch assembly.

If you wait, they will sure show up in wrecking yards. Since these parts rarely go bad even with the air bags deployed, they will likely be cheap.

Do you happen to have pictures of the back of the airbag, and the naked steering wheel? I've found the 3 holes in the back of the steering wheel, but I'm poking around a bit blindly, and can't find the part I need to release to get the airbag to come off.

 

I purchased a black plastic cover recently on eBay. The ad said it was only for the Prius Prime, but my local Toyota dealer told me that the original part (the white part being covered) were the same part number on the Prius and the Prius Prime. It fit perfectly. The cost was about $16. This is a much better solution than painting it.
