It helps. I think after a serious drain a charger session is better, but meh.

The old tried and true CTEK 3.3 are still available, and a bit more reasonably priced. P

It does and he should...but I think we were just trying to get him out of the driveway and back in service ASAP.

I have a 2010 and stupidly left the lights on after driving in the rain.
They were on for about 15 hours.
They were off when I went out in the morning, it was still dark, and the car started up fine.
Mine shut off automatically without anyway of setting it up to do that.
I read in my owners manual the headlamp will shut off after a few minutes when the car is shut off.

I left a door open for about 18 hours. That'll send it for a loop. They don't auto-shut off. Was reading 11.9 volts IIRC. Hooked up the CTEK, and it brought it back. But I swapped it soon thereafter, over 5 years old anyways.

    I miss worded that.
I left them in the "on" position.
They were still in the on position in the morning, of course. But the lights were off.
I was surprised there wasn't any "dinging" when I opened the door to let me know
    something was left on.

    Fixed, for now:
Bought a smart battery charger and after about an hour and many, MANY times of the charger telling me "battery voltage under 10v after charging for 10 minutes, battery faulty, stopping" and me unplugging and replugging, replying "you die when I let you", it finally achieved a steady 12v, and I let it charge at 4A for about 15 minutes, then it started (but it wasn't enough for the parking brake to turn on? Good thing I had ebrake on).
What I need to do now is return this barely functional charger (that needs to plug in the wall, no battery! Good thing I had a 100ft extension cable!) And get a better one.
... After I make sure it starts tomorrow morning.

The second this thing started I cruised down a couple cities in pwr mode to increase my odds.

Sorry for the lack of response, my phone was also low battery, and this parking isn't exactly close to home.

You should let it charge on the charger for a few hours.

That would be nice if I had parking at home, as stated I don't. Currently have a temporary overnight permit to park in the street in case it doesn't start, and the owner of my parking space doesn't want any cables running through his yard. Which even if he did, the charger cannot be used in rain or snow, which I believe there will be a bit of both tonight.

The important part is I got it out of the driveway on a Sunday. Tomorrow is a longer business day, so I could even buy a new battery if I needed to.

Yes that is something I was wondering about. Chargers are invariably plug-in. Street parking is a tough scenario.

Combining auto-off headlights with a headlight reminder dinger is pointless. Either one alone solves the forgotten-headlights-draining-battery problem.

In fact, before DRLs, the auto-off feature could be turned into a convenient set-and-forget pseudo-DRL solution. I used it on two cars, including my 2010 Prius, before getting true DRLs on my 2012. A dinger with that would have been a significant annoyance.

In the past I've taken a car battery into the basement of my house and trickle charged it there where it's warm. Lead acid batteries charge better at room temperature. The prius battery is easy to carry. There are 10mm hex nuts on the terminals.

    Pixel XL ?

Mine is a Prius 2, doesn't have auto headlamps. Just running, then headlamps.
I see NO point in auto lights. It's dark, you turn them on, it's not dark, don't turn them on! :)

I have auto lamps but never use it, never comes on when i want them to come on. Same for hvac, always manually on or off, never set to a certain temp. I’m just old fashion.

You list a 2010-II (it wasn't a Two that particular year, only later), just like my first Prius. That trim does have Auto-Off lights.

Don't try to tell me it doesn't, because I still have the brochure and can upload a copy of the Features page showing it.

Do note that Auto-Off is not the same as Auto. The former doesn't turn on with regards to outdoor light level but only on driver command. But that command could have been any prior trip, if the driver has not since manually commanded them off.
Some of us want them on when it's not dark, for safety reasons, especially in our dim and rainy and perpetually overcast climate zone. Absent DRLs, Auto-Off is perfect for that. Turn them on once, leave them that way forever.

Still, your troubles with the noco charger could be due to very borderline battery. It assesses battery, won't charge if it's hopeless.

You don't even need to drive it. When you turn it on it will charge the battery. You can leave it sitting on the driveway for half an hour.

I've had the 12V battery run out once (I was recording music onto the harddrive while in my garage, car was on two presses of the button without ready mode) and I jumped it with a 0-30V, 2A laboratory powersupply. Just hooked it up and that was enough to get the car to ready.
