Does anyone track their Prius?

    going to attend a track day at either Lowe’s motor speedway, road Atlanta, or CMP and my biggest concern is brakes

    With the regenerative braking I’m not sure how the front brake pads will hold up at the track...not worried about the rear brakes

    Not even sure if I can find performance front pads for the car anyways... unless pads from a corolla or some such fit

    Lol what the heck If one desires to track a car that handles like a refrigerator by all means go for it.

    My second gen handles really well actually

    And that is with nothing more than a little over a degree negative camber and a big rear sway bar

    I’m getting another set of wheels for some sticky tires and maybe some Coilovers

    I don't see why this would have any impact. Regen should hardly be used at all on the track. The standard friction brakes should not have been downsized at all compared to similar cars, since hard highway speed braking is about 95% friction before the battery fills, 100% after.

    Since I will be hard acceleration and hard braking I’m thinking the traction battery will be drained quickly...

    I guess I will find out if brakes start to fade

    Just don’t want to boil the fluid

    So I’ll have to slow down at that point...

    I might just end up having to stick to autocross with it...

    I'll be out on the track this weekend again with my Gen 3. Regen won't have any impact on your braking. I'll get brake fade on a short track witth a ton of corners like Talladega if I'm extremely hard on them but otherwise I've never had an issue!

    Stock pads and fluid?
    Running a performance tire?

    The tracks I mentioned are easier on brakes with long straights...

    Might be ok

    It isn’t racing anyways...so can dial way back a couple laps if I get fade

    Just really don’t want to boil the fluid with the difficulty in bleeding these brakes. ;)

    I'm running Max Elite slotted drilled rotors, with EBC red stuff pads in back and Hawk HPS in the front. Fluid is Dot 5, I havent had them fade out badly in the past, but I did fad them on Talladega at the start, but once I learned the track I was fine.

    my issue with my gen3.is when I dive into a corner hard, and bank a turn very hard, the TC will apply its own damn brakes by slamming on it and completely upset the balance of my car mid turn.

    TC is only concerned with wheel speeds (wheel spin) unload power. VSC steps in if it decides that the car might be "steering incorrectly" (yaw and lateral G don't match the steering inputs).

    Unfortunately there's no "good" way to disable VSC. Toyota designed the system to be very conservative - to the point where some reviewers complain about "nanny mode".

    Another vote for decent handling in the gen2. It would benefit from more negative caster up front and bigger rear bar but stock with some decent performance tires it is a hoot. Bleed your brakes, completely so there is no old fluid at the calipers. Old fluid with moisture is a huge cause of boiling. Share your results please.
