Which raises the question, what was it clogged with? I assume bits of the compressor and oil?

You can declare an unqualified success, then.

What did the old oil look like, and did any metallic bits or other debris come out with the oil?

    Thanks!!

EXCELLENT! Far too many "AC Techs" do not know to DRAIN the oil prior to refilling (y)

have a 2010 Prius. when the engine starts the air conditioner shuts off and blows hot air.
problem is that When the engine stops the a/c starts and blows cold air. The hybrid battery is fully charged and getting 50.2 mpg

    don't know why it's happening? ??

2010 is gen 3 Prius so you should post this to a correct forum. But if I had to guess maybe it’s the temperature control flap not going fully to cold. And when engine is running coolant is going through the heater core and counteracting the cooling effect of AC.

My 2005 has been telling me the coolant valve isn’t working properly. The result is heater works sometimes and doesn’t at times. I get a code though P1122.

Paul, did the faulty valve affect your AC?

My center vents / registers don't blow any air, hot or cold. I have the P1121 code too.

That’s a good question, California has has
Rather mild weather, and I did notice the auto a/c had trouble keeping me happy at 72 sometimes I had to adjust to 69 in sunlight or 74 when it was 46 outside. I suppose the valve would have made the water flowing through the heater core cooler during the times when it was 80 outside and warmer when it was 46 if it could have made the adjustment.

    Hello people...
I have a 2007 prius and the A/C is throwing hot air all time. It doesn't give a code, so, I add gas and start cooling, but, jus for one day.
Can I use refrigerant R-134a with leak sealer?

Only use R-134a WITHOUT oil/additives. This is an electric, hybrid ac compressor and the innards are delicate and prone to failure with wrong stuff. If you need peg oil, you need to get the special version for the Prius. Hope this helps.

Hello prius owners, good day to you. My brother and I own a prius, 2005 and 2007 respectively. Both having different AC issues. Starting with the latter, my AC cools only when the temperature is low, early hours of the morning or later in the evening. Please what could be the problem. Temp is set to LO, It didn't have this problem before. I need help asap.

My brother prius refuses to cool, only blows hot air, he has replaced the compressor, evaporator and condenser. It cooled for 2 days and went back to the same problem. We noticed the fan it's rotating but we were advised that it's because the Compressor isn't engaging. We both help, any thoughts please?
