Thanks for the clarification about the Base model not having the locking button.

What is Toyota thinking, no cable lock for plus model? Ridiculous.

Yup! I see that now that I look at the brochures. You'd think they'd say something like, "If so equipped," in that part of the manual.

By the way, another method I've seen in the PiP forum is a locking cable run through the spokes of the RR wheel and around the cable snugly enough to keep the handle from going through the loop. That's easier to make, but @Violet Rose's method is definitely easier to use.

BRILLIANT. THIS IS FRIGGING BRILLIANT. Can you post a side few of the black switch showing the hole? I'd like to see that hole in profile. See picture below.
I see there is already a small 1/8" which I never noticed before. Without having the lock in hand, it appears that simply using that as a pilot hole, drilling it out 5/16" may not quite work. It looks like you need to offset the 5/16" hole from that hole, suggesting a drill press might be best. I don't typically charge in public, but I have taken my cord on trips (even with an extension cord). I am more inclined now that I can lock it. Also, I am installing chargers for commercial clients. The ones we are using come with (2) Level 2 cords and (2) Level 1 outlets. I am told by other electricians that workers often doe-see-doe the connections in the parking lots, disconnecting others. For level 1 charging this would prevent that as well as thefts, which is the main concern.

ALL that matters is you have a Lock that will fit the hole on the EV charging cable. If it didn't fit then drill the hole bigger. But not a Cheap small lock that is easy to cut off. That is why i gave you the basic why to change the hole size.

Where do you get a Fast Charge Adapter? I just came back from a long road trip on the Turnpike and notices that in order for us to charge our cars we need a Fast Charge Adapter. Never heard of it and was take by surprise. Is this something you can buy from Toyota or aftermarket? Thanks for any help.

If by "Fast charge adapter", you mean to charge your PRIME at Tesla's supercharger station, then you are out of luck. AFAIK, Tesla will not let non-Tesla cars to be charged. For non-tesla BEV there is DC-Fast charge station, but it uses CHAdeMO connector and this is also not compatible with PRIME in the US. The Japanse version of PRIME, Prius PHV is equipped with CHAdeMO plug-in capability. The only option your PRIME has for faster charging is using public L2 EVSE at 240V. It still takes ~2 hrs to charge full 25 miles EV range. I think most L2 charge station is equipped with J1772 plug compatible with PRIME, so you don't need an adaptor.

It wasn't a Tesla station but it was a CHAdeMO and a fellow was charging his electric car there and said for me to use it I would need an extension, not necessarily a Fast Charge Adapter. The extension is supposed to let you use the charging station but it would still take a couple of hours to charge...not "fast charge". Never heard of it. If all turnpikes have only these and Tesla's, then we can't charge our cars. My husband and I did notice that the handicapped aisle did have the charger we need....but we're, thankfully, not handicapped.

I've never used public charger on my PRIME, for there is no public charge station within 200 miles from our home. Plus sitting for a couple of hours for mere 25 miles of EV range is not very productive use of my time. Plus, the price for public charge station is usually much higher than what I would pay for gas for the same distance I can drive.

That being said, if you really want to charge your PRIME, you can find some charge station you can use without any adapters. You have to find a charge station equipped with J1772 plug. I maybe wrong, but AFAIK, you can't used DC fast (CHAdeMO plug) on PRIME. Try this site to find compatible charge stations you are looking for. Just pick J1772 as you choice.
