I know in another thread that there was a Customer Support Program for the 2010 model brake booster problem, but I have a 2011 and just received a letter in the mail from Toyota. I dont know if this is for all 3rd gens since it doesnt say in the letter.

I am submitting all the document tomorrow and trying to receive Reimbursement for $3300.

If you received the letter, it is likely it applies to you. Toyota should have your ViN on file.

Oh right I knew that. Just wasn't sure if they expanded the coverage for 2010s to all 3rd Gens; if anyone with a 2011+ can chime in.

Interesting! I hope this means we're covered against unprovoked failures of the hyper-expensive brake components.

We have a 2012 and received the brake booster letter. Knock on wood ours hasn't had any problems yet with the brake booster so I just filed the paperwork in case a problem comes up.

I have a 2015 and I just got the letter. (although I used to have a 2010, I should check the VIN in the letter to make sure it's not for my old car...)

I just entered the VIN of our 2015 Prius Four, but no recall showed up. I think ours was built in June 2015, so maybe the recall applies only to earlier builds.

You're experiencing problems? They're not just handing out money; there needs to be symptoms.

For what it's worth, I'm noticing a kind of grunt sound, sometimes, just coming to a stop. Seems like moderate to heavy braking it happens more.

Toyota Canada has sent out a similar letter, and I've got till November 2020 to make a claim. I've talked to the service manager about it (via email, so there's a paper trail), and his suggestion is to just monitor, and bring it in so they can test drive when it's getting closer to the deadline.

I got the "Voluntary Customer Support Program" notice in the mail last week. I haven't had any warning lights come on, but I have noticed the brakes kind of go "putt-putt-putt" when I'm slowing to a stop. The dealer I bought it from replaced the front pads and turned the rotors at 91,000 miles, and it's at 129,000 now. I haven't noticed any other symptoms, so I'll probably just put a note in my maintenance spreadsheet to remind myself to take it in before 8/2021 to get checked out, assuming it doesn't show any symptoms in the meantime.

Could someone with a 15 upload a copy of their letter from Toyota on this thread? I’ve not gotten a letter for my 15 yet and guess I’ll need to call Toyota and find out why.

Just got the letter for my 2014. I’ve had the fairly common bark/grunt under heavy braking since 155k miles, but it’s gotten more common and under less harsh braking. So glad this support was released in case this is booster related. Thanks Toyota!

Received the ZJB customer support letter for my wife’s 2015 today. Currently has 47k miles so I seriously doubt we will exceed the 150k mileage limit before the program expires for us in August 2025. Filed the paperwork away for future reference.

    yiujai86,

I received the same letter for my 2011 Toyota Prius. To qualify for the "Customer Support Program" (covered until 8/31/21, then secondary coverage kicks in), your Prius has to display one of the lights they show on the paper you posted and throw a code. The guys at the Toyota dealership checked and my Prius was doing both.

My Prius has displayed the yellow "SLIP Indicator light" every time I press the brake pedal to the floor. Then the light goes away. If I normally just brake, the light does not come on. The car has done this since I purchased it used and I honestly have not noticed any degradation in braking performance. Anyway, the dealership is honoring the warranty and is replacing the faulty parts. I pick up the car tomorrow 7/11/19. I can post the receipt if anyone is interested. My Prius has roughly 59,900 miles.

A normal push of the brake pedal stops the car just fine. To clarify, in the event the brake pedal is fully depressed to the floor (which is never needed during driving), the yellow "SLIP Indicator light" is displayed every time. Pressing the brake pedal to the floor while in PARK may provided a way for folks out there to check if their Prius needs the replacement parts.

If you get the replacement parts, does that mean the hill-start-assist feature stops working?
