2010 prius: flashing display, failed to start

    Today, my prius failed to start. I unlocked the car without a problem, however only the driver's door would unlock. When I pressed the start button, the display turned on and flashed intermittently. The engine failed to start and nothing else happened. I am not sure which part of the vehicle is failing....

    Check your 12 VDC battery first. If it's dead or near dead the car's computers will not boot up. Check you FOB battery as well.

    Just the 12v optima battery which was 3 years old. Phew
