    Hello @ASRDogman,

In an earlier post (which I started):

2011 Gen 3 Prius Model 3: FOB Startup vs Physical Key Security | PriusChat

you were describing how the FOB allows you to open the driver's door using only the signal from the FOB. You said "I like NOT having to use the key to open the drivers door. I wish they had it for the passenger side also."

I am reading the owner's manual for the 2011 Prius. Under section 1.2 key information there are two related sections Smart key system (with entry function) and Smart key system (without entry function).

In the first section, on page 44 (under "Unlocking and locking the doors") it says:

"Front door handles (including front passenger door handle if equipped with entry function)".

To me, this says that some 2011 Prius cars may have the sensor in the front passenger door handle which will unlock the door with the FOB in your pocket.

I am not near my car so I cannot confirm the feature.

I do not know if this feature was included in your 2010 model year Prius, or if it was added in 2011.

I do not now if this is a feature which can be turned off/on. @ASRDogman, if your car has the sensor on both the driver's and passenger handles then it is possible the feature was turned off.

Let us know if you manage to get the SKS to work on your front passenger door.

Prius I and II models did not have passenger side SKS, only III and higher models

THANKS! Mine does not have the sensor.
I imagine the cost to add it now would not be worth it, for me anyways.
Maybe the handle itself has a sensor in it, then I could just add the handle. But I'm certain it would need
to be attached to a cable, which may or may not be there.
Now I will have to look into it! :)

    Hi @JC91006,

Thank for you sharing that Gen 1 and Gen 2 Prius cars do not have passenger side SKS for proximity unlock of the door, and that it was available starting with the Gen 3 model year.

From my reading of the manual, it seems that in Gen 3 Prius cars it was NOT included in all cars. I am hoping that in your 2010 Prius Model V it was included.

@ASRDogman has a 2010 Prius Model 2 (Gen 3). I do not know if there is a way to get a complete list of factory installed options-features for the different models for a specific years. If his 2010 Prius Model 2 had the sensor installed, then I am guessing he may be able activate his passenger side SKS unlocking via just a software change (either using Techstream or a version of the chicken dance). No need to replace the handle or attach a "cable", so therefore hopefully, much cheaper.

    To Clarify

Gen2 cars all had the SKS functions in all front doors/hatch except for the very basic Prius I model. Prius II model and above has the SKS functions on all front doors/hatch.

Gen3 cars had SKS on driver's door only on Prius I and Prius II, Prius III and above models had SKS on all front doors and hatch.

if the hatch works with the fob in your pocket, so will the passenger door

You need the sensor on the inside of the door handle, mine does not have it.
And the rear deck doesn't work either. I guess I'll have to settle for the drivers door only.
So sad, my life is ruined!

This is false. I have a 2008 gen 2 prius and used the passenger side proximity sensor five times today. Just for the record.
