yeah, there are a few threads here with lots of posts. they change some transistors or something to keep it from overheating under high stress.

My understanding was that the software was changed to avoid prolonged, high-current draw through the inverter’s power-output transistors , which can over-stress and kill them. That may have also caused a very slight decreased in power available from the motors under high load conditions.

Can we call our local dealership to get this done? I just got a check hybrid system check engine light and cleaned out my hybrid cooling fan and so far no check engine but my Prius has been sluggish before and after the cleaning. My car also tends to rev high when I'm idle at a stoplight at times..

Somehow I doubt that they've replaced the EGR cooler.

You're not hysterical about the labor cost.

If I'm not mistaken, the official procedure for replacing the EGR cooler requires removal of the engine. I still doubt that they did it, warranty or not.

More likely they've replaced the EGR valve and called it a day.

You don't have to remove the motor to remove the cooler.
Just the windshield wiper assembly, which is very easy to do, about 10-15 minutes.

It's a hack pretty much exclusive to this forum.

Well also need more than the three letters EGR:).

What’s after it is just as important: valve or cooler;).

If just valve, there is a lot of work left:cool:.

Good luck and keep us posted (y).
