My engine ran great even with blown head gasket.

Only symptoms we're it was getting hydrolock when it was stoped for more then a couple of minutes.
I caught it before it ran out of coolant so it never overheated.

Moral is: don't let it go because things don't fix themselves.

    Can't see timing in that.

But I got more then age against me.

    In my lower back
I have generated facets, stenosis, and atrophied muscles surrounded by the L4 L5 and sacrum. Since it all was naturally fused from birth. Unfortunately it all isn't fused anymore.

Oh those images were in disassembly.
During my timing fix I experimented and turned crank 4 times and chain advanced 3 or so links. Turned it 4 more times advanced again. Yet 4 more turns and advance again.
When I took it apart for timing fix it was amazingly on the marks at TDC. But crank off 1 tooth.

Maybe we're prone to let things slide, because organic things, say our bodes, can sometimes fix themselves, heal. But mechanical, not so much...

Yup they to for instance have more oil pressure now have leak.

In the area of Oil pressure sensor it was wet when I took it apart but no dripping yet. I replaced pressure sensor but now I have drip. Spent all day trying to track drip down. Gonna try to reseal pressure sensor tomorrow. If that don't work I might try UV dye.

thank you I was wondering why I was seeing what I was seeing. As an offshoot I'd really like to learn something from this. It sounds like you were successfully able and not collide the pistons with the valves. This would mean to me that they are not interference valves. Is this correct?

FYI me and my friends have a total of 16 Priuses 14 of which are 3rd gen. We have just done our second head gasket. as a test to see if the bolts were loose I tried tighting them first and found they were all about 170 foot pounds. I consider this sufficient evidence to say looseh bolts are not the cause of a leaking head gasket.

    It is an interference engine.

When I was testing I did learn the intake valves will hit the heads.
This was a problem with belt driven timing. The teeth would strip off the belt after so long of use. These engines would need timing belt replaced fairly often. Somewhere there is a list of which engines. We were given a list of them in auto school oh so many years ago.

Unless there is a catastrophic break in chain or severe timing misalignment during install we are good.

Arrg used UV dye still looks like leaking from oil sensor despite ultra blue silicone. Took sensor out cleaned off and used locktiite 242 waiting on dry time.

I can see how locktiite might work over silicone becouse of how thin it is. When I took out sensor the silicone seemed to stay on outer threads where locktiite should permeate through all the threads

The oil pressure switch is sealed using thread sealant. Loctite is only used to seal threads to prevent the object from backing out; it is not used to seal for the purpose of preventing leaks.

That is strange. Every oil pressure switch I have ever installed has been with thread sealant. Never had any leaks either.

The one on my Prius had been sleeping. When I did the head gasket I resealed with thread sealant. No leaks or seeps in over 14k miles.

If oil switch was leaking it isn't now.

But I see the timing cover looks like it's leaking near head gasket
