Current MPG 0 when stopped

Not sure what you're getting at, your image shows 62.8 MPG.

Perhaps you are looking at the Energy Monitor screen, which will of course show 0 MPG (or -.-- MPG on the 2006-2009) when you're not moving. It is an instantaneous readout so when you're not moving (and the ICE is not running) you are consuming 0 gallons and going 0 miles, so your instantaneous MPG will be 0 MPG (or -.-- MPG).

 

Well, your current MPG is especially zero when you are stopped and the engine is running, so it is using fuel. No matter how much fuel f  you use while you're sitting there, it has moved you zero miles down the road, so your MPG is 0/f  which is definitely zero for whatever nonzero amount of fuel you've burned.

Technically, when you're stopped and the engine isn't running, you don't have a current MPG at all (because 0/0 doesn't have a well-defined meaning). But if they were going to show a number, zero wouldn't be an astonishing choice.

 

Our meter (continental Europe) works differently: Americans divide distance by gallons. We divide gallons by distance (actually liters per 100km, but same difference).

This means that the bar on the right should be as big as possible in the US, but as tiny as possible for us.
Iirc, it will also sometimes get confused because it is dividing zero (fuel use) by distance. It will then show 99,9l/100km.

So my Prius will sometimes claim to use (the equivalent of) 2 MPG... You'd be hard pressed to reach that with a Hummer towing a 100ft yacht...

(I think I should have a pic of this, but cannot find it. Obviously this only happens right after putting in gas, resetting the computer and driving off without using the ICE, so purely on the HV battery.)
