I've had a used Gen 2, 2008 Prius (touring Package I think) and was wondering if it's possible to upgrade the backup Camera to have more "modern" features, such as guidelines, etc

This post bellow said he was able to manage it on a gen 3. Would it work similarly with my Gen2? I'm not the most car technical person out there. Would it require re-wiring the main touch screen?

On the Gen 2, the gridlines are generated using data from the IPA (intelligent Park Assist) package, AFAIK.

So if your car doesn't have IPA, which I assume it doesn't due to the lack of grid-lines, then you are out of luck. I don't think it is feasible to retrospectively fit the IPA package.

I know for a fact that you should be able to as far as resolution (you can only get so far) wise but concerning guidelines etc. I would say if you wanted a higher resolution picture and add the features of Bluetooth Aux etc. I would say replace the head unit and get one that has all of these modern features. Here is a video that should give you a general idea of what you would have to do

Use some self adhesive clear plastic film that can be run through a color laser printer to make a little sticker to put on the camera lens? ;)
