    Hi All
I am trying to install ghost light to the rear doors.

Please help me with wiring instructions on how to add a door courtesy light to the rear doors.

I have in mind the wiring connection as in the picture attached.

    1. is that correct ??
    2. Door courtesy light switch power reads as 5.xx sth value. not 12v. what does it mean? is it's negative I presume.??
3 . whats the pin for dome light in driverside kick panel junction connector?
    4.how this rear switch working?

please advise me how to get this done.

    Thanks in advance

I know there was a thread on the illuminated door sills that covers the info (I think it was in the Prius V section). I remember that it's a floating ground so you can get odd readings. When the Easter crowd gets too much I'll do some more looking.

Thank you for your reply. I had a look at this document. However, I'm still struggling to figure out the wires as my wire connector wires are multicoloured.
I have tested the power on pin 12 and pin 14. but it doesn't read anything.
attached the image of the wire socket and the socket given in the document.

i don't think I can connect the ground wire to the door courtesy light switch as it grounds only when the door closed. when the door open the switch is also open. Isn't it?

    Thank you

When the door is open the switch grounds (and the ECU turns the power on to the light). The wiring diagram says that if the wires aren't white with painted dots, as in the door sill instructions, then they're multicolored, as yours are. Attached is the relevant section from the wiring diagram - unfortunately, it doesn't have a section that shows what color all the wires at all the ports for the NL1 and OL1 connectors are.

Thanks Buzzhead for the reply and the Pdf. I had a bit of study on that. what my problems now are,

There are obvious connections in OL1 and NL1 to find out the connections for front door courtesy light assembly. Which was originally fitted. That means there are no connections available for rear door courtesy lights from NZ1/OL1 upward to the main body ECU as it wasn't factory fitted in any of the Prius gen3s
only found 36/LS1 and 53/LR1 which are the switch pins. (and it connects together before goes to ECU)

The rear door courtesy switch grounds only when the door closed. Which I thought it grounds when opening the door and make the circuit complete and turn on the lights.

I'm sorry if these are silly questions to ask in this forum with more knowledgable people, I am trying to understand a bit of this if I could get this don for fun.

Also, there is another thread similar tot his and many views but no proper solutions or answers are given. It means there are bit interests and attempts on this topic :)

    cheers
    thanks again

If I'm understanding your current quandry, to connect the ground for rear door, you don't run the wire forward to the driverside kickpanel, you run it rearwards, up the c-pillar and connect to the switch itself.

The positive does run forward, and connects to the source per the door install instructions.
As for getting the wires out of the door in the first place, I imagine it takes pulling the door cards off, cutting a hole in the plastic panel for the ghost light, running the wires up into the rubber flex line, then down the b-pillar and into the sill along with all the other wires. I imagine someone has done some part of this last bit when doing speaker changes.
