I just had a chat with Matt from Rhode Island on his Prius experience and to what car should a person owning a 2008 with 347k miles and no issues upgrade to.

Matt is the first owner of a 2008 Prius that now has 347k miles (555k kms). His Prius is holding up nicely without any major faults. Original ABS actuator, hybrid battery. Inverter coolant pump changed during a recall.

Matt is the second person on the podcast who has a 350k miles Prius with no major issues. We talk about his hybrid journey, examine Toyota's hydrogen and EV line for 2020. If you are interested in hearing the full chat, here is the link to the episode:

Fix the P0301 (plug, coil or injector) and then wait a bit to see if it helps with the emissions thereby getting the P0420 to clean up.

When was the combination meter recall work done? We're there time and mileage limits on the recall?

There was a time limit but no mileage limit. It expired years ago.

The Odometer "limit" was with the 2Gen up to 2006 or 2007, only, AFAIK

    It affected 2004 - 2005 Gen 2. They fixed it in the 2006 - 2009 facelift.

Post your question in a new thread with all the details in the Gen 2 Prius Care, Maintenance & Troubleshooting forum. Someone will be along then to see if they can help you.

I just did my 310k oil change. I’m doing extended oil drain intervals since I burn about 2-3 qt of oil anyways lol it’s like having an oil change. Anyways my only issue is cat converter is going out so I have the a420 code (I think that’s the code). I just reset it’s d drive like or normal. Oh and my paint is super peeling but that’s my fault for not waxing it. It’s pullin dog duties and Home Depot runs. Still Impressed by this car. Aside from rattles the engine is solid. I really think it came make 500k.

Hopefully going 12 mph at the time didn't put you in a precarious position;).

    But a good unique one(y).

I hit finally hit 300,000 miles in my 2004 Prius.

    1) Did you replace the HV battery pack? No.
    2) Did you replace the hybrid transaxle fluid? Yes, once at 120K miles service.
    3) Did you replace the brake pads? No.
    4) Your lifetime MPG (if available)? 50.7 per MFD, 49.9 calculated.
    5) How often do you change your oil? What brand / product did you use? Every 5K miles, changed by dealership.
    6) How about post a picture of 300,000 miles on ODO? Looks just like 2006 - 2009 odometers at 300,000. See 9) below.
    7) Are you the original owner? Yes.
    8) How many miles under your ownership? All but 5 miles which were on odometer when I bought it new from dealer.
    9) Feel free to add anything else you wish to share
I want to thank everyone on PRIUSchat for the things I've learned about my 2004.
A big THANK YOU to Matt at Texas Hybrid Batteries for offering the upgrade odometer kit so I can see my mileage past 299,999!
Matt programmed the newer CM with 299,961 miles to match my original one at the time of the swap.
$150 (after return of old CM) was a big savings over the $700 - $800, and $1400 estimates that two local dealers quoted me.
The DIY swap was easy. I also fixed my MFD, which, in the last few months was slow to come up and even slower to populate the data.
Big thanks to Hobbitt for showing how to fix the hairline crack at pin 60 of the big connector.
Overall, the Prius has been a great commute car that I would highly recommend, especially for someone who keeps their car for a long time.

You are still getting 50 MPG...thats impressive. My 2007 with 250k miles gets 44 MPG and I thought that was pretty good. Also didn't know the ODO didn't count passed 300K. I

On 2004-2005 Gen 2s only and it doesn't count past 299,999. The limit was removed in the mid-life facelift.
