They are 8mm, but for all intents and purposes, a 5/16 is identical (enough) to an 8mm

Please remember, the torque is measured using INCH-pounds, not foot pounds. 48 inch-pounds.
That level of torque shouldn't cause any problems with rounding off corners.

This video (and they seem to know their stuff) says the sockets for a battery overhaul include an "eight, ten and twelve mm".

My first thought was it would be 8 mm. As you said, 5/16" is just a hair less than 8mm, still maybe your best option?

Maybe my 5/16ths are so old they're a bit stretched. As I told my wife, if I were taking out an alternator or something, I wouldn't have even noticed it was a hair too large, but I'm being super careful with the battery.

Tomorrow, I'll pick up an 8mm because I should have one anyway. I'll use whatever's the tighter fit.

    As always, many thanks

There is a bug in the video - the torque should be 48in lbf / 5.4Nm. not 60 as they say?
Or did I mix up something?

By the way - there is also an error in the manual.
They write once in. lbf, And next to it they write ft. lbf, As if they were the same - be careful ;)

I see now, that it was already about it above. Sorry :)

The Gen 2 manual has these mounting bolts labelled as requiring

    28 n*m, 286 kgf*cm or 21 ft*lbf

They are identical fasteners, so it should be safe to assume the exact same requirements for Gen 3.

Hi there, my Prius C gave me the P0A80 code, in the Prius C there is a piece of metal that holds the back seats in place, it needs to be removed in order to gain access to the hybrid battery. Any information about the torque specs of the bolts that hold that piece of metal in place, where the back seats go?

This video is incorrect. Although it had some good info he gets that part wrong.
