Did you tell sigmabit what version of techstream you're using? different versions have different algorithms. If you can find an older version (5.1 or ealier I think) they use a 6 digit numeric seed, way easier than the 96 digit hex seed + vin requirement....and don't forget drivers door must be open the entire time or reset will fail.

paul, the reset process fails before it actually begins...after inputting the 96 digit seed it resounds in failure within 5-10 seconds

Sounds like you are doing everything correct. Check all fuses in car, try unhooking 12V in car for a few seconds and reboot laptop??

Hold on, you don't input 96 digit seed, you input a 6 digit passcode, which is the calculated result from the 96 digit car generated seed.

You can click on "input to TIS" in order to COPY the seed, but then you need to hit cancel or whatever until you have a valid 6 digit passcode to enter into Techstream....then wait 16 minutes.

There is no need to swap any hardware if you have Techstream and a valid passcode...unless something in the car is broken which is very unlikely unless it was in a collision.

I agree, only necessary if the smart key computer is bricked.
If a ssmart key computer is bricked, can it just be replaced with a unit /fobs from a salvage yard with out any techstream programming?

If you do health check on tech stream the smart ecu should show as white not yellow or white with asterisk. If the smart ecu is not talking ( white with asterisk ) the key programming will surely fail.

In the US, ECU only needs to be reset ( by locksmith Eeprom service procedure) or replaced ( by dealer method ) on years 2000-2003. 2004 and newer, we access with scan tool through the OBDII port, reset immobilizer and program Proxii.

its not recommend to use a usb style mongoose cable for reseeds and reprogramming...We always use the tough book only when doing reseeds...Good luck in your quest

An old thread though, but what happens, if all keys were lost as in this case? How do you get to put the car in ignition on mode before even programming the smart key fob?

Usually customers get their vehicles towed at our dealer. Not much you can do anyway, when we get the car, we reset the whole system to erase all keys (we need to send a request to at least two people higher up now, request has to be accepted so we that can start the reset) and we register a new master key/remote. From there, it's business as usual to register a new key/remote. Keep in mind that I work in a Toyota dealer, so everything is done with a Techstream.
