    Hi all, new v owner--
The trunk/liftgate lock is sticking. How hard is it to remove and clean, or replace? It looks like there are a few bolts and a small plastic panel for the emergency release. Thanks so much in advance.

Just vacuum it. That would do the trick.

Is it the lock mechanism that is sticking.......or the LATCH ?
(Edit: OK, maybe there isn't an actual lock mechanism at that point.)

Either way, spray silicone lube is the best thing.
It is safe to put into the lock cylinder OR in/on any of the latch parts too.
When it dries it does not gum up over time like oil based products to.

Thank you, I will try that. There's something that looks like sand in the lock in the lid (not from me!).
I have to slam the back liftgate or it won't lock, and then it fails to unlock. I suppose the locking hoop might need to be adjusted but it looks fine. Tx.
