Car won’t start, only check engine light on

    While technically correct, it is more like dipping down to 9V - 9.5V before you will see the master warning light (MWL) flash.

    I know this because I have wired in a voltmeter and observe my car dipping below 11V (typically 11.6V - 11.8V) on the initial startup and I never see the MWL flash at this high a voltage. (When I see the low voltage, though, I put my 12V battery on the charger at the next convenient opportunity.)

    Same here and then some. My old 2005 got down under 9 volts. If I recall the exact number it was 8.7V. No MWL. The only sign something was amiss was that the brake accumulator was taking a very long time to make pressure when I got in the car to drive it.
