You can rule out the classic hatch or tail light seal leaking by getting in the hatch closing the hatch door and have someone hose the car down with a hose outside while you watch inside with a flashlight. That's how I found out my after market pos taillight was leaking real bad.

Not sure what your talking about drilling a hole in the OEM tail lights for draining. Shouldn't have to do that.

Apparently it's not uncommon. Standing Water in Tail Light Lens | PriusChat
Drilling may not be the best solution, but it's probably the quickest. I certainly wasn't the first to do it. ;)

While I'm not the one to drill out tailights, pulling the drain plugs in battery compartment and wheel well while you go after the leaks is wise.

Can you be more specific? Like, which battery compartment 12v under the seat or hybrid under the hood? And where are the drain plugs? Likewise with the wheel wells. Are there any diagrams I can find online? I've never had to hunt down stuff like this before with any other vehicle I've owned.

Pull out your spare tire and you'll see two rubber plugs that are near 2" wide.
Pull out your 12v battery and you'll see one rubber plug that's 1/2" wide.

It's super fun to pull the plug once it's full of water and watch the whirlpool spin...
