I just got some JDM headlights (halogen, non-LED) and I noticed the blue housing isn’t as blue as the USDM ones. Is this normal or did I get a faded set?

Also I didn’t realize these JDM ones had auto leveling with the halogen versions.

Depending on your state of residency, you will be ticketed for not having orange side markers with those headlights on a turd gen stock prius

Is your car a plug in? If so that model comes with a slight blue hue in the headlight assembly from Toyota

Was going to say this too; you're comparing plug-in headlights with the "blue chrome" housing to regular chrome JDM lights.

I kind of like the darker look, actually, orange reflectors or not.

I love the clear side markers and I have european headlights on my Golf GTI with the clear side markers and I have never had a problem. They've been on for 2 years.

The bulb in the clear marker is amber, which makes it compliant.

State regulations probably vary*, but federal regulations require an amber reflector--doesn't have to be a light, but a light doesn't satisfy the requirement. You can read the relevant material here, in Tables III and IV at the bottom of the page.

That said, I've had clear reflectors on three cars and never had a problem.

*I looked up California's vehicle code, and they allow "white or amber reflectors that are mounted on the front of the vehicle at a height of 15 inches or more, but not more than 60 inches from the ground." Again, no requirement to light it, but the OP should be fine with a clear reflector.

Correct. The state in particular is more concern about the car parked without its parking lights on. Will it reflect an amber color when your driving towards the car so you’ll know that is a car’s frontal end. Just like the back reflector of a bicycle, it doesn’t light with a bulb up but when shine a light to it, it’s red so you’ll know it’s probably a bike.

The 2010 and 2011 Prius headlight lenses have a blue tint to them whereas 2012-2015 models have no blue tints.
