If you don't press the brake, you avoid the car starting up, is all?

Because when they released the Gen3 in 2009, the oil change interval was 5k miles, at least in the U.S. Only months after release was it boosted to 10k, but the firmware was never updated. Apparently, not even in later Gen3 model years, with that tire rotation excuse for maintenance.

    Yup ;).

But if you do it quick enough, it doesn’t matter (y).

Here is the resolution to this issue: I pressed the DISP button (on the right side steering wheel controls) to bring up the display with the traction battery state of charge gauge and the power flow arrows between the engine, battery and front wheels. Then I could reset the maintenance required timer using the normal process.

The reset procedure would not work with the display showing the Maintenance Required message. My guess is that the underlying display was the screen that shows only the current date on the display.

There was another member with a similar issue, he had a 2015 plug in. Maybe they changed the programming/firmware on the 2015

Tried the display Trip A, hold the MPH/KPH button and simultaneously press the power button twice (foot off brake) method. It did not work for me if my foot was off the brake. DID work if I depressed the brake while holding the MPH/KPH button and then hitting the power button twice. Went like a charm. Had an oil change a couple of days ago and they didn't reset. Thanks for the advice!

How do you do it up there?

It's easy! I reset it about 3800 miles after the last oil change+reset. That way, the gentle preliminary reminder pops up at about 8300, then the sterner, more annoying one at 8800 if I still have not changed the oil.
