I have prius 2008 with ipa and i managed to install an android radio 7 inches with steering wheel button learning function.
The original car radio-cd have 3 wiring connectors. The two of them connects to the new android stereo i bought and the last one with 20 pin connector has the three wires for the steering wheel signal. So i cut these three wires from the 20 pin connector (audio R5 connector) and soldered to the three wires of the new android i installed so i managed to learn the android the steering wheel buttons except the microphone.
The problem was that the ipa was not working because the ipa uses other wires from that R5 connector and the original audio unit to work.i did not used the 8 ohm resistor and did that:
    1) Dissasemble the original unit, and took the audio electronic board with the back mettalic headsrink.
    2) I put that board in the dashboard and connected the R5 harrness conector to it.
    3) I soldered the 2 pins that send power to the board with the ignition wire from the car so to take power when i start the engine and the ground to the car ground.
    4) Now connect the two audio wires with my new android , the antennas for radio and gps and
now i have all the steering wheel buttons working and the ipa working too.
THE TOTAL COST WAS 85 EUROS FOR CHINNESE ANDROID 10 AUDIO AND 10 EUROS
    FOR TOYOTA ISO HARNESS.

Are the steering wheel controls working for android or OEM head unit?
