Going to buy a 2005 with a dead hybrid battery

    The Mrs informs me the red triangle has disappeared a few days ago. I presume the car has charged it back up to within allowable spec.

    I've decided to make it a little more forest road capable. Step 1- a 1.5" lift and new rear shocks and springs. (Fronts were already replaced).

    I doubt I have the will power. I've been thinking about doing this ever since @strawbrad posted his height modification using suspension components from another Toyota vehicle. We have some killer speed bumps in my plant that are designed to make tractor trailers think twice. I have to take my car inside the gates every now and then. My car does not like those speed bumps at all. I'm not sure how my exhaust is still connected to my car. An extra inch or so would make a world of difference.

    A couple more updates and a trip report. After the winter tires and 1.5" lift, I installed a hitch with a Thule 665C cargo box. This enabled us to complete a 2600 mile road trip around the Sierra Nevada and sleep in the back. 2300 miles of the trip were in the mountains and the Prius did great.

    I've jinxed myself. We went for a trip into the mountains and got a P0A93 on the way up so turned around as a precaution since I wanted to head up remote dirt roads. I think it is the inverter water pump. And I think I replaced that shortly after buying the car at 205,000 miles if I remember correctly. Currently it's at 252,000.
    There's no turbulence in the coolant reservoir. I just checked. So I think that definitely confirms a new inverter coolant pump is needed.
    How long do these usually last?

    I drove several hundred miles with that one. Eventually replaced it. It was easy repair.

    Genuine OEM ones generally last 100,000 miles or more. Aftermarket and counterfeits not so much.

    I’m a flatlandwe but who lowers the Prius LOL. I have seen 3rd gen lowered here though. You know for efficiency sake

    Another update - it recently ticked over 299,998 miles. It's stuck at 299,999 now. That's over 100,000 miles of driving. I'm glad we took the gamble on buying it.

    I kept track with a log book and the trip meter for a while then contacted Texas Hybrids and exchanged mine for one with the correct miles on it.
