Nope I mean the original design team. We got ours from relatives four years ago it's a 2005 and we have both fob's. My metal key does not work but I really don't know about my wife's key?

It's not a Bimmer floor foot sensor? So I don't rally care that much. But I suppose it is something I should look into before I need it. :)

don’t forget about the people doing that intentionally and remind us about immoral and karma. I got that lecture here couple of times with selling undisclosed blown head gaskets and failing hv batteries to dealerships like carmax.

If you know someone with AAA they can come unlock the door.
Or your local volunteer could do it?
Since the key turns, both ways, the plastic piece the holds the rod to the key cylinder that unlocks the door,
it's probably broken and the rod fell out. Many brands of cars have this happen, not just the Prius.
You might be able to pull the top of the door away from the frame and slide a coat hanger, or something
similar, and hook the door handle to open the door.

Once the door is open, you can pop the hood and put a jumper at the fuze box and then you'll be able
    to pop the trunk.

Same here, no problem the last time our 12v battery died. Opened the driver's door easily with the metal key.

Why don't you contact the local police and ask them if they will open your door?
Then you can jump the 12v Battery, or at least buy one from walfart and install it.
    BEFORe the hybrid battery dies.

So I was able to open it with the mechanical key. The thing is the plastic was very fragile so when I tried turning it the first time it broke and turns out I couldn’t get enough leverage to fully turn it. So I used some pets for leverage and was able to open it

Okay, you got it open, with a pet? Or you have pets? Or misspelled word? :)
Maybe walfart will put a charger on it for you. And see if it holds a charge?
Just keep the amps 5 or less.

    I figured that! :)
If it's REALLY dead, overnight at least. If after a few hours it's not up to 12.5v, and holding,
It's probably time for a battery(12v). You want to leave it on as long as you can because
the hybrid doesn't charge it very fast. You would need several hour of driving to charge it.
But it may be good enough to get you home and then you could charge it overnight(12+hours).

Why was it dead? Was it completely dead? What was/is the voltage. did any lights come on when
you tried to start it after getting the door open? How old is the battery? 5+ years, Probably should replace it.

But since you have the charger, give that a try.

My dumbass somehow thought a battery charger would magically charge it like a solar panel didn’t realize I have to plug it into a power outlet. I’m homeless so I don’t have that. The hybrid battery stopped working and it was running on gas engine for two days then the 2 days later the engine wouldn’t start but all the lights on the dashboard lit up then another 2 days later the 12v was completely dead
