I have 3 Prius'. The volume on my Gen 3 2011 goes down (and sometimes up) at random while I'm driving without touching any buttons. It goes down a lot (like from 35 to 25) and it's random so it's not going down as I go faster and I'm not touching the steering wheel controls either. Anyone ever seen that? Thanks in advance!

Which one of the 3 2011 cars that's doing that?

my 2006 goes up and down randomly sometimes, and when it does, the volume shows on the MFD as if i'm using the steering wheel buttons. i'm thinking the clock spring in the steering column is failing?

Mine occasionally does that when the signal is getting weak and it goes into and out of "HD" mode.

Sorry - correction - it's my 2012 Prius II with "stock" touch screen radio.

Nope - no changes on the MFD. The radio display reflects the volume (which goes up and down erratically)

I currently have this happening randomly on my 2007. It stops if I move the steering wheel slightly, so I'm pretty sure it's a clock spring issue. Just glad it's something minor like the volume and not temp, lol.

Thanks for the idea TMR - I tested it today and the movement of the steering wheel did not seem to make a difference.
