Hi All, It looks like I need the rear license plate light replaced (its burned out), and I have a safety inspection within a week. I've got two questions: (1) Anyone know the part number for the bulb? (2) Anyone know a resource that explains the procedure for replacing it? Thanks!
00234-00192 That said, if you just walk into a dealership parts department and ask for the bulb, they'll figure it out. Open the hatch and look on the inside, there's a couple of pop-out panels: bulbs screw in behind there. Owner's Manual has something too I think, but really you just need to follow your nose.
I had great results with this, it may only work one way, so test before you put everything back. www.amazon.com/gp/product/B01FO249HS
Yeah main thing is to avoid handling with bare hands, getting skin oil on it. To make sure give it a wipe with a cloth dampened with isopropyl alchohol, last thing before install. Though maybe this more important with headlight bulbs??
Back when most household 120-v light bulbs were regular incandescents, did you use gloves to replace every burnt-out bulb?
If I can segue into the same subject, but a different year car. How do you change the license plate lights in a newer Prius Prime (2019). I have checked YouTube, the manual, googled it and can find nothing for the newer Prius. There are no cut-outs in the rear hatch like the older Priuses where you can access the bulb. Thank you in advance!
Your 2019 Prime is not a gen 3, so it is possible you will get more informed discussion with n the gen 4 forum or the Prime forum.
